Developed and released by Activision in '97, Interstate '76 was set in the southwest US during the oil crisis of the 70's. Using an impressive array of weapons and muscle cars, the player embarks on a series of missions attempting to stop a corrupt smuggler from destroying an oil reserve and seizing power during the succeeding aftermath.
The game's soundtrack, composed by Arion Salazar of Third Eye Blind, attempted to recreate the funk stylings of those used in many 70's cop shows and blaxploitation films - and succeeded in a big way. You will literally smell the funk coming off your speakers while you play these tracks. One of many highlights is "Never Get Outta the Car."
