Singwritarist Glenn Tilbrook turned 50 yesterday. I had planned on posting a Squeeze tune then but completely forgot to, so I am doing it now, a day late. Sorry.
My experience with Squeeze has been mostly via compilation albums. They've put out quite a few, but even though they always give you standards like "Tempted", "Pulling Mussels (from the Shell)", "Another Nail In My Heart" and others, my favorite track always seems to be 1979's "Cool for Cats."
Chris Difford sings this one, and I dig his inflections and his accent. I'd get a kick out of him singing anything, be it a commercial jingle or Ave Maria. Plus, the song just has this great disco-ish, yet still new wavey-type vibe that I just love.
