The whole "Stars on 45" concept started in the early 80's, when a Dutch act of the same name recorded a medley of popular songs with a danceable drum track underneath it.  It was so successful worldwide that more such medleys were created by many artists, covering many styles.  This Wikipedia article explains the phenomenon in more explicit detail.

As much as I loved "Hooked on Classics" and Weird Al's "Polkas on 45", my favorite example of this concept is this little gem by Ivor Biggun and the D. Kups entitled "Bras on 45."  Referencing tunes by the likes of Gary Numan and Madness, it pays tribute to a subject that's near and dear to so many of us - breasteses.
