View Article  "Mr. Nice Guy" - Mr. Bungle

Before Mr. Bungle ever landed a recording deal, they put out a demo in 1989 called OU818.  Most of the tracks from it were re-recorded for their first major label release, but one that was never redone was "Mr. Nice Guy."

I'm OK with that, because I think it sounds awesome the way it is.  It's all about the LATFAP.

This is part of a week-long series on Mike Patton's best known bands, Mr. Bungle and Faith No More.

In a previous post I made brief mention of Mike Patton when I posted a Faith No More song that was recorded before he joined that band.  Well, now it's time for him to get some love on the MSaD - a whole week's worth, in fact.

Patton is about as versatile an artist as there's ever been.  He can sing like crazy and plays many instruments well.  He's worked with a veritable crapload of highly respected people.  He's been in many bands and helped produce many others.  He runs his own record label.  He's even taken a stab at acting.

Of course, none of that would mean squat if I didn't enjoy his work - and the two bands he's best known for, Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, are less like artists and more like deities to me.  So I will be featuring those two groups all week long.

Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.

Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition based on titles provided by the site's administrators. I post there under the handle "Albatross." Go check it out. It's a gas.
My Own Noise
Can't sing my way out of a wet paper bag, but I play a few instruments with varying degrees of proficiency. As such, sometimes I record my own music. You can hear it here.
