View Article  "Another Journey by Train" - The Cure

"Jumping Someone Else's Train" was an early Cure single/album track from 1979.  When the band released their "A Forest" single in 1980, the B-side contained a sequel of sorts, the instrumental "Another Journey By Train."  I actually like that track more, so here it is.

This song was made more widely available in 2004 when the 4-disc all-rarity compilation CD Join the Dots came out.  There are a whole bunch of really good B-sides, remixes and studio demos on that, so you should check that out if you're even a casual fan.

As a side note, I used to drive my dorm roommate nuts by trying to play the bass part to this song.  Eh, f**k him.  He always woke me up butt-early by blaring adult contemporary crap, which of course included, but was not limited to, "Never Gonna Give You Up."  Ugh.

Hear "Another Journey by Train" on YouTube.

This is part of week-long series on songs about trains.
View Article  I lost my thought of train.
Once again, I was having trouble coming up with a weekly theme, and Pat suggested songs about trains.  I was like, dude, how am I gonna come up with songs about trains?  Well, it took me all of about ten seconds to realize that there have been a metric crapload of songs about trains.  So, I'm gonna spend a week posting some of them.

And no, I am not going to try to punctuate this post by saying something lame and obvious like "All aboard!!"

Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.

Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition based on titles provided by the site's administrators. I post there under the handle "Albatross." Go check it out. It's a gas.
My Own Noise
Can't sing my way out of a wet paper bag, but I play a few instruments with varying degrees of proficiency. As such, sometimes I record my own music. You can hear it here.
