View Article  "From Russia with Love" - Matt Monro

Obviously, it's been a hallmark of the Bond films to make use of a song recorded by a popular artist of the time.  That will be a common thread throughout this whole week.  In 1963, when From Russia with Love was released, Matt Monro was already a very popular English balladeer, so he was tapped to perform the eponymous theme from that film.

A smooth British crooner doing a song for a Bond film would seem to make sense, would it not?

Watch the film's opening sequence on YouTube.

Criminy.  After more than forty years, they are still making James Bond pictures.  Entry #22, Quantum of Solace, is coming out in about a month.

As it so happens, I dig a few of the tunes from the films, many of which were used in the racy opening credit sequences.  So, here are a week's worth of songs from the James Bond movies.  Shaken, not stirred.

Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.

Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition based on titles provided by the site's administrators. I post there under the handle "Albatross." Go check it out. It's a gas.
My Own Noise
Can't sing my way out of a wet paper bag, but I play a few instruments with varying degrees of proficiency. As such, sometimes I record my own music. You can hear it here.
