This tune from the 1965 movie Thunderball, as much as any other, defined the whole musical James Bond "style." This is about when the elements of the series and its principal character truly began to manifest themselves into the theme songs - the cool, debonair attitude, the danger, the secrecy, the mystery, its all there. It wasn't just that we were watching a character, we were hearing him in the music. Now, whenever you hear those wailing muted trumpets, that's total Bond. And you recognize it instantly.
One Mr. Tom Jones was brought on board to deliver this theme. So, if you're female and you feel compelled to remove your undergarments and throw them, be my guest.

Watch the opening credit sequence with much crappier audio.
UPDATE: Hear Mr. Bungle perform the song live.
This is part of week-long series on songs from the James Bond films.
