The Cow Exchange is the band handle used by Songfight member Plat. Outstanding keyboardist, terrific composer and arranger. And I really wish I could find a more flattering picture of him.
Anyway, in November of 2006, we tried something called the Total Request Coverfight. It worked like this: we all declared our intention to enter. Then once the final tally of artists materialized, each of us was responsible for requesting one of our own songs to be covered by every other participant. As in, I want this guy to cover this song, this band to cover that song, etc. Then our lists were gathered by the project leader and he assigned one song to each artist so as to create a "daisy chain" of requests, as in Band 1 does a song from Band 2, who in turn covers Band 3, and so on until Band N covers Band 1.
Pat (aka Rabid Garfunkel) and I entered this project under the Primitive Screwheads banner, and I was the one that put our list of requests together. One of my immediate thoughts was to assign Pat's entry for the "Here Comes My Dragon" fight to the Cow Exchange. It's keyboard-sequenced and kinda wacky, which seemed to be right up Plat's alley. Well, the project master seemed to agree, because Plat did in fact record a cover of that tune. And JUMPING JESUS ON A POGO STICK I was completely blown away by it. I was a big enough fan of his already, but this song left me dumbfounded. Quite simply one of the most incredible Songfight songs ever made.
Sadly, even though most artists came through with their covers, a few of them did not, and so the songs were never reviewed or voted on. But hey, I figure Plat would have cleaned all of our clocks anyway. And for what it's worth, you can hear our entry here - it's a polkafied version of a song by WreckdoM, whom I've talked about before.
