Folks, I'm not gonna beat around the bush.  "We Built This City", from the 1985 Starship album Knee Deep in the Hoopla, is quite simply, one of the absolute greatest songs in all of recorded history.  From its flowing, poetic lyrics to its intricate arrangement to its virtuoso instrumental performances, in addition to its refreshing honesty and genuine integrity, no, it is not just one of the best songs ever made.  It is THE best song ever made.

Someone's always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names

For the love of all that is holy, what a brilliant line.  It would be a real shame if this supremely gifted band had at any time, you know, changed their own name.

Anyway, I digress.  This isn't just a song, it's a religion.  It is the Alpha and the Omega of recorded music.  It makes for better, smarter and more enlightened people simply by being heard, and it makes the world itself better merely by existing.  I love this song more than life itself.
