Perfect Strangers (1984) was Deep Purple's first studio album in nearly ten years.  In the heyday of synth-pop and during the dawning of the age of hair metal, I appreciated how this record stayed true to the band's more "classic" sound.

I dug "Knocking At Your Back Door" and "Perfect Strangers" while they were getting some MTV airplay, but upon hearing the whole album, I fell in love with "A Gypsy's Kiss."  That is just one of the greatest, most balls-out jam sessions ever recorded.  Those guys are a MACHINE on this track.

Oh, Rolling Stone gave Perfect Strangers 2 out of 5 stars, saying "the material consists of hastily knocked-off jams."  Yeah, whatever.  Why don't you worthless, pretentious twerps just piss off for once?  Man, I really don't like music critics.
