View Article  "Little Girls" - Oingo Boingo

What say we kick off Boingo week with the opening track from the band's first full-length LP?  "Little Girls", from 1981's Only a Lad, is as much of a prototypical Boingo tune as any - bouncy and kinda wacky, even a little creepy, with an intricate musical arrangement.  It should be obvious by now that musicality mixed with a certain irreverence and high weirdness is a real quick way to win me over.

And Oingo Boingo won me over a LOT.

This is part of a week-long series on the music of Oingo Boingo.

Long before Danny Elfman became the renowned film composer he is today (and married super-hottie Bridget Fonda), he fronted a somewhat off-the-wall yet patently amazing little band called Oingo Boingo.  They became, and remain to this day, one of my absolute favorite bands ever to exist.  So, a week's worth of MSaD fawning is in order.

Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.

Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition based on titles provided by the site's administrators. I post there under the handle "Albatross." Go check it out. It's a gas.
My Own Noise
Can't sing my way out of a wet paper bag, but I play a few instruments with varying degrees of proficiency. As such, sometimes I record my own music. You can hear it here.

Latest song: "Take Five" (Dave Brubeck Quartet cover)
