
Here's a small example of how Green Day sounded when they were still on an independent label, before they hit it big with songs like "Basket Case" and "When I Come Around" and became a target for some rather nasty accusations of "selling out."
As you can hear, their sound and style never really changed all that much. If you just happen to become commercially successful by doing essentially the same music you were doing while you were struggling, are you really selling out?
