"Taking Retards to the Zoo" - Dead Milkmen

 "Taking Retards to the Zoo" comes from the band's debut album, Big Lizard in my Backyard (1985), which also gave us "Bitchin' Camaro." Questionable taste? Perhaps. But I don't think there will ever be a time where this song does not make me snicker. I discussed the Dead Milkmen in detail in a previous post. It's time they got a whole week.
Even though they were never really classified as a "novelty act", they were easily one of the funniest rock bands ever. Many "novelty acts" could only dream of being as amusing as these guys. Oh, one more thing: the Dead Milkmen did NOT do "Let's Go Smoke Some Pot." That is a Dash Rip Rock song. It's amazing how many people get that wrong, so get it right already. Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.
