View Article  "Big Fun" - Scatterbrain

God, I loved Scatterbrain.  I've posted a song from them before.  In their heyday, they were essentially a hair metal band - except that they had what amounted to a stand up comic for a lead "singer", and they were MUCH better musicians than those in most hair bands.  They were hysterically funny and laid down some groovaliciously awesome instrumental tracks.  You may remember their pseudo-hit "Don't Call Me Dude."  Well, today I am putting up "Big Fun", the opening cut from their 1991 release Scamboogery.

They never were all that successful commercially and their albums are all OOP now.  I guess the world hasn't ever been ready for light-hearted, eclectic novelty metal.  Well, phooey on the world.

Watch the video for "Big Fun" on YouTube.

This is part of a week-long series on "fun" songs.

We're having fun this week!  I'm posting a bunch of "fun" songs!  It's a quest for fun!  I'm gonna have fun and you're gonna have fun! We're all gonna have so much f**king fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our Goddamned smiles! You'll be whistling "Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah" out of your a**holes!

OK, I ripped off that rant from a Chevy Chase movie.  But you get the idea.

Introduction
Some of my online cohorts at the Songfight community decided to create blogs to highlight songs they like. I am now doing it as well, because I am a total lemming.

Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition based on titles provided by the site's administrators. I post there under the handle "Albatross." Go check it out. It's a gas.
My Own Noise
Can't sing my way out of a wet paper bag, but I play a few instruments with varying degrees of proficiency. As such, sometimes I record my own music. You can hear it here.

Latest song: "Take Five" (Dave Brubeck Quartet cover)
