I was listening to Jim Rome's show earlier today.  Jim Rome is a smack-talking sports talk radio host, and every year he holds what he calls the "Smack-Off", during which the most obnoxious of the show's callers are invited back to compete against each other in one big yapfest.  I am amused by the Smack-Off, because even though a few of them are complete assclowns (looking at you, Jeff in Richmond), some of the callers are actually funny.

Anyway, I've always dug this Boomtown Rats song, which is often used as a bumper on Jim Rome's show.  Such a nice, bouncy feel, with the simplest of drum parts.  I mean, the other instruments are pretty much all over the place, but that kick-tap-kick-tap just makes the song hop right along.

No, seriously, Jeff, stop carrying on like some self-deifying suburban gangsta twerp.  It's tired, stupid and irritating.

Watch the video for "Up All Night" on YouTube.  I wish I had VH1 Classic.  Oh, check out the user comments - they're full of Rome references.
